A hands on fabric stencilling workshop inspired by the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, including lunch and a tour of the tea rooms.Inspired by the stylish interiors at The Willow Tea Rooms , you will create a small fabric panel to take home with you.
We will look at the beautiful fabric panels designed by Margaret MacDonald, the Glasgow style and of course, the man himself Mackintosh.
You will create your own design taking inspiration from all these sources, cut your own stencil and print onto a piece of fabric using your choice of colour palette. I will then show you how to stretch this over a wire frame to create your own unique Glasgow Style wall panel.
This workshop is suitable for anyone over 16 years and I will have lots of images that you can use as a springboard for your own designs . I will be on hand to give all participants individual help. We will be using craft knives to cut the stencils, so if you have issues with hand dexterity, please contact me to discuss.
These fabric panels are very light and easy to hang on any wall and even if you’re visiting the city, they can be packed in your suitcase without taking up much room. A perfect souvenir from your visit to Glasgow!
Your day will start with a 45 minute tour of the building after which we’ll get started on our workshop. We’ll break for lunch at around 1pm and continue afterwards to complete our project by around 4 pm.
