Charles Gorczynski Tango Quartet

Bandoneonist and composer Charles Gorczynski returns to the Bay Area, for the first time with his acclaimed Minneapolis quartet: pianist Alex Woods, violinist Devan Moran, and bassist Sarah Lahasky. The quartet is touring to support their new album Dead Stars (Caverns Records 2025), a set of original and contemporary tangos that push into very personal, heartfelt, and dark themes.

Minneapolis-based composer and bandoneonist works in contemporary tango, new music, and studio production. He leads the acclaimed modern tango ensemble Charles Gorczynski Tango Quartet and is the director of the Twin Cities Tango Collective.

Charles has premiered his compositions at the Chamber Music Northwest Festival and the San Francisco International Arts Festival, worked as faculty for Tango Sin Fin and Tanguero Workshop, and is regularly commissioned for new works for tango chamber ensembles. As a bandoneonist, he has worked with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Chorale, California Symphony, Vocal Essence at Orchestra Hall, Mason Bates’ Mercury Soul Orchestra, and many other orchestral and chamber music organizations. Charles has recorded and toured with international tango projects, including Mariano Barreiro Tango Trio, Tango BC Quartet, Alejandro Ziegler Cuarteto, Maxi Larrea Trio, Maldito Tango, and Los Tangueros Del Oeste.
