You don't have to be Scottish or have any experience of dancing to enjoy this great night.
Coming along in a kilt though is actively encouraged though.
Our Charity Ceilidh is all about coming along and enjoying yourself.
We will be raising money for Birmingham St Mary's Hospice - a very worthy cause. You can read more about their fantastic work @brumshospice
A Ceilidh (pronounced "Kay-lea"), is enjoyed by all ages – from youngsters’ first Scottish dancing experience to old-timers out enjoying a burl. People come dressed in jeans, full highland dress – and everything in between.
You don’t need to know what to do, our caller (Schuggie) will explain the dances and there are lots of friendly folk to give you a hand and get everyone up dancing.
We’ll be dancing to recorded music. When you arrive, follow the bunting up the stairs to the main hall.
Doors open at 7:30 and the dancing starts at 8 pm. Tickets are £5 per person, you can just pay at the door (cash or card). There is plenty of free car parking and local transport nearby.
It's a family-friendly ceilidh so kids can come along as well (kids are free).
If you need directions or have any questions about the night. Please message me or post here.
At Birmingham St Mary's Hospice, patients, and their families and loved ones come first. They take care beyond the hospice itself, reaching out to every part of the community by supporting people in their homes and local neighbourhoods.
Every day, they support and care for more than 500 people living with life-limiting illnesses, but estimate that this is only 50% of the people who need their services.
My good friend John, whose wife was cared for by the Hospice before she passed away, is our way of continuing to thank them for the care she received. So come along, and join in the fun, laughter and social connection that ceilidhs are great for.
Not been before What can you expect? Fun, laughter, dancing out of time with the music and probably having sore feet afterwards. It's not technical and half the fun is making mistakes. So, you really don’t need to know what to do.
Lastly, please don't take your own alcohol into the Club Buy your drinks from the bar.
Every penny we raise enables vital care, compassion and comfort to be available to more people whenever and wherever they need it.
