Get back on the road to Barkot for another night there. The 19th-century Yamunotri Temple was commissioned by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur. One may visit many ashrams and temples in Uttarkashi. Its name, Kashi, comes from the fact that it is so similar to and located (as north of) the city of Kashi (Varanasi). A city on the banks of the Ganges, like Varanasi.
One of the earliest Shiva temples in Northern India is the Vishwanath temple. the Maharani Khaneti Devi of Tehri State rebuilt it in the original form in 1857. It occupies a prime location in the middle of town. From ancient times forward, worshippers have brought their offerings to the temple and laid them at the base of a gigantic iron trident that stands as a symbol of the heavenly mother. The temple grounds also have modest temples dedicated to the gods Ganeshji, Sakshi Gopal, and Markandeya Rishi. A unique aarti, known as Akhand Jyoti and Akhand Abhishek, are performed each morning and night. Uttarkashi is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is referred to as "Saumya Varanasi" in the Skanda Puran. The Shakti Temple is located just across from the Vishwanath Temple. It features a large "Trishul" that is roughly 6 metres tall and 90 centimetres in diameter at its base. There are varying theories concerning its composition, but the top half seems to be iron while the bottom half is copper. This Shakti was so named because, according to the epics, Goddess Durga (Shakti) threw it towards the demons. Over here, at this spot, stands this Shakti that was constructed after that. Conditions in Uttarkashi - Summers may be rather warm (between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius), but the cool evenings make up for it.

After finishing your Pooja and Darshan, take some time to unwind in the serene setting. Travel return to Uttarkashi at a later time. Rest for the night at Uttarkashi. Located on the right bank of the Bhagirathi River, the Gangotri Temple was built in the 18th century by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa. The summertime high in Gangotri may reach 20 degrees Celsius. Even in the heat of summer, temperatures may drop to about 10 degrees Celsius at night. If you plan on going to Gangotri in the summer, bring some light woollen garments. Gangotri's winters are notoriously frigid. As winter approaches, Gangotri will be blanketed with snow. The severe snowfalls of winter force the closure of all pilgrim centres.

The Kedarnath range provides a stunning background for the Kedarnath shrine, one of Lord Shiva's 12 jyotirlingas. The Hindu deity Lord Shiva also goes by the name Kedar. Legend has it that after defeating the Kaurava in the Battle of Kurukshetra, the Pandavas felt terrible over killing their own brothers and sought Lord Shiva's blessings to atone for their sins. After many successful evasions, he finally found safety in Kedarnath, disguised as a bull. After realising he was being pursued, he dove below, leaving just his hump above ground. Because of its elevation, Kedarnath experiences chilly temperatures throughout the year. The summers are mild and pleasant, whereas the winters are harsh.
