Three days of madcap fun being with this show!Opening program - Before there were Movies there was Vaudeville.
Rick Adam will present a talk on The Photo Scrapbooks of Chester Brown along with excerpts from Rick’s one-man vaudeville show “The Great Spoofarto!” In 1916, Chester Brown stopped in Niles to make a train connection. A company player with Arthur Hammerstein Musical Comedy Productions. Chester and fellow actors met Charlie Chaplin and Edna Purviance in front of the building that is now the home of the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum. Included in the scrapbooks are images of the Panama-Pacific International Expo of 1915-1916. Also, rare photos of stunt pilot Lincoln Beachey.
FEATURE – TILLIE’S PUNCTURED ROMANCE (1914, Keystone) - 110th Anniversary! A con man from the city dupes a wealthy country girl into marriage. Charley Chase, Chester Conklin, Alice Davenport, Minta Durfee, Billy Gilbert, Alice Howell, Edgar Kennedy, Hank Mann, Al St. John, Slim Summerville all had cameos in this feature. Directed by Mack Sennett. The picture is considered one of the first feature-length comedies and was the only feature-length comedy made by the Keystone Film Company. The film will be introduced by Nigel Dreiner & Jason Allin.
