Keynote Lecture: Chantal Delsol
The Post-Christian Age: A Sacralized Humanism
The second day of the conference will open with a keynote lecture by Professor Chantal Delsol, who will examine the philosophical and cultural transformations that have shaped the emergence of the post-Christian age. In her lecture, The Post-Christian Age: A Sacralized Humanism, she will explore how the decline of Christianity as the dominant cultural framework has given rise to new forms of humanism, changing conceptions of universal values, identity, and community. Drawing on her extensive work on European civilization and political philosophy, Professor Delsol will offer a timely reflection on one of the central questions of the conference: what remains of the Christian worldview in an increasingly post-Christian society?
Professor Chantal Delsol is Professor Emerita of Political Philosophy and founder of the Hannah Arendt Institute at the University of Marne-la-Vallée. A member of the Académie des Sciences morales et politiques, she is internationally recognized for her work on political philosophy, European identity, and the cultural consequences of the decline of Christianity.
This lecture is part of the 4th International Conference Christian Philosophy: Between Christian and Post-Christian Worldviews, taking place on 22–23 September 2026 at the University Ignatianum in Cracow. The conference brings together leading philosophers and scholars from around the world to explore the dialogue between Christian and post-Christian worldviews, addressing fundamental questions concerning religion, ethics, politics, culture, and the future of philosophical thought in contemporary society.
