Chanoyu & Matcha: Experiencing the Japanese Tea Ceremony
Step into the world of Chanoyu, the Japanese Tea Ceremony, and discover the art, history, and living culture through matcha. This 400-year-old tradition, also known as Chadō, continues to evolve while offering timeless lessons in beauty, mindfulness, and connection.
Guided by Stephanie Lemmons Wilson, a life-long tea lover who has been a student of Chanoyu for 14 years, studying at Issoan Tea School. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the ceremony’s context and meaning.
The class includes:
* A handmade traditional Japanese sweet
* A demonstration of the Japanese Tea Ceremony
* Insights into the history and cultural significance of Chanoyu
* A bowl of traditionally made matcha with hands-on instruction in preparing a good bowl of matcha at home
* Guided practice in whisking matcha yourself
* Informational handouts to continue your tea journey
