Lowell Thompson is a natural-born Chicagoan. He calls himself a “recovering adman” because he spent over 35 years creating ads and commercials for some of the world’s leading advertising agencies and their clients. He’s since become a writer, artist, and pop historian. His pictorial history book, “African Americans in Chicago,” is available in most CPL branches. He is the Co-Writer/Executive Producer of “Channels Changers”, a documentary on how he and a few other African Americans began “changing the face of American advertising” in the late 60s, at the height of the Civil Rights Movement. Come see - and have a lively talk - about it with him.
