Join National Energy Action (NEA) NI and the Money Guiders NI Network for this practical and engaging CPD Accreditied training session exploring how behaviour influences household energy use and what advisers can do to encourage positive change.

Changing habits and behaviours can be challenging, yet the small decisions people make every day have a significant effect on household energy use. To support households effectively you need to feel confident in providing practical, behaviour-focused guidance.

This course explores key theories and insights from the field of decision-making, with a particular focus on simple, actionable techniques that can help advisers encourage households to act on the energy-saving advice they receive.

Delivered by Nichola a long standing network members and expert traininer from NEA NI the session will provide tools and techniques that can be applied immediately when supporting people with energy-related issues.

Ensure you are proactivelt equipping yourself ahead of the colders month to support energy realted questions from your customers, you'll leave with greater confidence in encouraging positive behaviour change.

Who is this session for?

• Frontline staff across a range of organisations who provide energy-related support directly to householders, either in person or over the telephone.
• Money guidance practitioners in the third, community and public benefit sectors. If you're a volunteer or member of staff and talk to people about money in your role, this session is for people like you.
• Anyone supporting householders experiencing fuel poverty, energy affordability challenges or wider cost of living pressures.
• Practitioners working across NI who want to better understand the factors that influence behaviour and decision-making.

What to Expect

• Understand the barriers that prevent people from acting on energy guidance and explore why good guidance does not always translate into action.
• Learn about key influences on decision-making, including cognitive biases such as loss aversion and the impact of social norms on behaviour.
• Discover practical techniques to encourage behaviour change and support householders to take action on energy-saving advice.
• Explore how to frame conversations effectively by making messages personal, relevant and engaging.
• Apply the EAST framework (Easy, Attractive, Social and Timely) to increase the likelihood of positive action and lasting behaviour change.
• Share experiences with other practitioners across Northern Ireland and gain practical ideas you can use in your own role.
