Join The Ella Baker School of Organising and guests for an introduction to Changemakers, Radical Strategies for Social Movement Organising.

Aunty Social are welcoming the book's authors and organisers from across different social justice movements to explore the key themes of the book, how they relate to our own knowledge and experiences of organising and how we become more effective change makers.
Crafted for those who dare to challenge the status quo, Changemakers is a radical guide for activists. Drawing from frontline experiences in trade unions, environmentalism, animal rights, and social justice movements, the book explores essential themes from leadership to the art of negotiation. It asks crucial questions about organising and social movements in the 21st century.
Written by two experts in activist education and community organising, this is a refreshing take on movement building, empowering changemakers of today to forge new paths towards a more just world.

Hosts:
Jane Holgate is author of ‘Arise: Power, Strategy and Union Resurgence’ and more recently 'Changemakers. Radical Strategies for Social Movement Organisers'. I have been a long-time trade unionist in a number of UK unions, where I have held a number of elected positions. I have also been a community activist. In my day job, I am Professor of Work and Employment Relations at the University of Leeds. My research interests include trade unions and the development of organising and recruitment strategies, particularly as they relate to under-represented groups in the union movement. I am a strong advocate of peer-to-peer teaching and political education. My involvement in the Ella Baker School of Organising is because I believe in the power of learning as a way to transform the world to be a better and more socially just place for future generations.
John Page has been an organiser in the trade union, anti-racist and community sphere, having worked variously as a specialist union organiser and as lead organising at a number of leading anti-racist charity. John has won significant campaigns in the workplace, and has helped organise communities to oppose narratives of division. John is an experienced trainer and has written numerous training sessions. John is co-author (with Jane Holgate) of the forthcoming book: Changemakers: Radical Strategies for Social Movement Organising
Panel guests to be confirmed closer to the event.
