With a style best described as glam folk, the artistic Tacoma husband and wife duo of Jessi and Jared Fredeen write sticky, hook-laden music that feels familiar and engaging even on the first listen. Champagne Sunday thrive in live settings, communing with crowds and sharing stories that further illuminate their songs and performances. Whether in clubs, festival stages, or smaller venues, Champagne Sunday have the ability to lock in with their audiences and transport them somewhere special. A little over 10 years ago, we embarked on the part of our musical journey as a duo, and began the version of Champagne Sunday that you all know and love today. Our album, Heaven Knows was released in 2012 after leaving our band mates, getting married, and writing and recording the entire album at a ranch in Ojai, CA, on a single microphone, on GarageBand into a laptop. Some of the songs from Heaven Knows have become crowd favorites and staples of our shows, like the quintessential Love, Jareds ode to a bad mood, Dostoyevsky, and our musical hug, Lullaby For a Friend. However, there are gems on the record that have rarely appeared in front of an audience, like the haunting No More or the confessional title track itself, Heaven Knows. Champagne Sunday is excited to showcase the album in its entirety, plus two tracks that were recorded, but never made it onto the full length CD, on February 9th at Alma. We will be sharing the stories behind the songs and some of the stories behind the recordings. Heaven Knows was a critical turning point in our career and subsequent development as a duo, and integral in establishing our unique sound as Champagne Sunday. We sincerely hope you can be part of this special evening with us. Special guest James Coates will open the evening with his heartfelt, and honest songwriting and stories.
