Beginning the program are Webern's Two Pieces, which were his first compositions, completed when he was just 15 years old. Following is Beethoven's opus three string trio, a piece in six movements inspired by a Mozart string trio written just a few years earlier. Dvořák's second piano quartet finishes the program, written at the behest of his publisher.
