An Evening of Music and Merriment
About this Event

The Opus Quintet presents two towering works of the string quintet genre— Mendelssohn’s fiery and dramatic Quintet in B-flat major, paired with the sublime pleasures of Mozart’s fleet and refined Quintet in D major. Ending our afternoon will be various pop songs including an arrangement of Stevie Wonder’s All Is Fair In Love by our very own cellist, John Schroder. Join us for a drink or two and wile away a leisurely evening.

The Opus amanuensis writes: "Chamber music was historically played—and we believe is best-enjoyed to this day—in close quarters, among compatriots. The form has been described as "the music of friends" and as "a rational conversation between four people." While there are in fact five of us in this group (Thomas Chow and Shauna Revelli on violins, Sara Rusché and Matt Van Pelt on violas, and John Schroder on cello) and of dubious rationality at that, we truly could not imagine a better setting for the continuance of this tradition than the cozy, boisterous chambers of Clio's. We hope you will enjoy."

Opus Oakland was created in October of 2016 by members of Oakland Civic Orchestra, a community orchestra affiliated with Oakland Parks and Recreation.
