Chalte Chalte With Meena Kumari: It is Pierrot’s Troupe’s new musical play—a ‘dance drama' too: It features the ‘ one and only’ as well as the ‘one and lonely,' Meena Kumari, revisiting her life, her times, her works, her worth, and, of course, her LOVE AFFAIR … with URDU. This is substantiated further by the live singing, that too for the first time, of the ghazals and nazms she so eruditely penned. 

No less, her highly glamorous and equally tragic life is represented through several Kathak performances during the play. The play, thus, is a live and an aesthetic re-representation of a tragic queen, an intense shayera, and an intricate human being.    

The play features some of the prominent performers, including Anju Chhabra, a senior actress, who plays Meena Kumari; Poonam Meera, an unparalleled singer; and Astha Gupta, a young yet hugely talented Kathak dancer. The play has been conceptualised by Rehan Khan, a Canada-based scholar and activist. It has been written and directed by Dr M Sayeed Alam, reputed for his penchant for humorous, historical, and historic plays.

Last but not least, the play is produced by Pierrot’s Troupe - the theatre company credited with giving many new, original, and entertaining productions to Hindi, Urdu, and English theatre in India and abroad.
