God has called upon some notable messengers to speak throughout history and some of the most notable have come at the precipice of world-upending trauma. Far from being fortune-tellers who predict the future, prophets are God's truth-tellers. They are often trying to persuade God's people to reform or face the consequences. But, what separates a prophet from someone with a strongly-held opinion? Do people ever actually listen, change, and avoid a catastrophe altogether? How can we prepare, if at all, for disruption and unrest? For the next six weeks, Pastor Alex Molozaiy will lead a special Summer Sermon Series on the biblical prophet Jeremiah, who was a master of symbolism and imagery through the lens of one of the 20th Century's greatest theologian and political philosophers, Reinhold Niebuhr, who is perhaps best known as the author of the "Serenity Prayer." His masterwork, "Moral Man and Immoral Society: A Study in Ethics and Politics," was published in 1932 as the world was about to experience the shock of WWII. Pastor Alex was awarded the Niebuhr Award for Academic Excellence in Theology and Religion while an undergraduate at Elmhurst College, their shared Alma Mater.
Join us in-person for these services on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM. Come as you are and find that FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE ABIDE here! This series will also be broadcast live on our Facebook page at that time. The recordings of any you miss live will be available on our Facebook page for later viewing or catching up.
