Chad VanGaalen with guest Jairus Sharif

Chad VanGaalen is one of Canada’s most celebrated musicians and visual artists. In addition to being a Juno and Polaris Prize nominated musician, Chad is also an illustrator and animator who has shown across Canada and in Europe. Chad lives in a rickety house in Calgary and doesn’t like to leave home more than he absolutely has to.

Jairus Sharif is a self-taught saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Treat 7 Territory, Calgary, Alberta. Drawing from an evolving collection of electronics, traditional instrumentation, and homemade tools, his work combines free improvisation, sound collage and folk traditions to generate ecstatic sound sculptures. Spontaneously composed live performances create a liberation technology for use in collective healing, while sharing a glimpse into his ongoing hermetic journey.
