Combining the lyricism of the clarinet and symphonic texture of the piano, University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance faculty members Amy I-Lin Cheng and Chad Burrow will take audiences through a colorful journey with Poulenc’s witty and soulful Sonata, Martinu’s folk-inspired Sonatina, and David Baker’s jazz-blues-dance-infused Sonata. Following the sonatas, two operatic paraphrases on music by Puccini and Rossini will surely bring charm, drama, and virtuosic fireworks to this musical journey.
