Join us for a morning of kayaking on beautiful Shingle Creek in Kissimmee. All kayak levels are welcome including brand new kayakers.Bring your own kayak or you can rent one from The Paddling Center.
We'll meet at 9:00 am at The Paddling Center at Shingle Creek for a 2-hour kayak trip followed by a bring-your-own picnic lunch at Shingle Creek Regional Park.
We plan on being on the water as soon as all the rentals are brought out, hopefully 9:15am).

If you need to rent a boat:
The Paddling Center rents single kayaks for $30 for 2 hours. You should reserve a boat in advance or they may not be available when you arrive. You can reserve a boat here: https://www.paddlingcenter.com/hourly-rentals
Parking is tight at the Paddling Center so park at Shingle Creek Regional Park as marked in ORANGE on the map included as a photo in this event. Leave enough time to walk the 2-minute walk to The Paddling Center to pick up your reserved kayak at 9:00 am. The walk is marked by the blue dots on the map. It's very obvious and easy to find.

If you have your own boat:
Park at The Paddling Center lot as marked in PURPLE on the map included as a photo in this event. Leave enough time to unload your boat and be on the water at 9:00 am. You'll need to use the Public Boat Launch rather than the little beach, as marked in BLUE on the map.

All experience levels are welcome on this trip! For experienced kayakers, we'll have a guide going a little faster and a little farther.
For brand-new kayakers or anyone that just wants to have a light paddle, we'll have a guide bring up the rear at a slower pace with a slightly shorter trip. Don't worry, we'll give you all needed instructions.
There is no way to get lost here, so you can go at your own pace and stay with the group or explore on your own.
*************
What to bring:
- Anything you need to be comfortable on the water
- A lunch for after the paddle (keep this in your car)
- A water bottle (I suggest a reusable water bottle, as they are less likely to fall out of the kayak and become litter)
- Wear clothes that can get wet. It's really unlikely that you will fall out of your boat, but things can get really splashy.
- Wear water shoes rather than flipflops. It's unlikely that you'll need to get out of the boat, but occasionally, we need to pull boats over a downed tree in very shallow water. Flip flops tend to get lost or sucked into sand/mud.
- A way to protect your phone, if you are going to use it for pictures on the water.
- Again, it's unlikely that you will be in a situation where your phone will be in the water, but better safe than sorry.
- Sunscreen, hat, sun shirt, etc...
