This qualification is suitable for leaners who wish to develop skills and knowledge in garden design. It aims to extend and further develop learners’ skills, knowledge and understanding of the creative process when developing and designing gardens.During the course learners will create a portfolio of drawings and designs for a range of gardens.
These will include Winterbourne site based scenarios, a clients garden in Birmingham, free choice gardens for you to identify and a show garden or show border.
The learning programme will include:
1. Formal lecture sessions
2. Practical sessions
3. Written assignments
4. Practical assessments/ assignments.
To create these drawings and plans learners will need to purchase or have access to drawing equipment. A list will be distributed to learners prior the start of the course.
Assessment
Assessment will be ongoing by building your portfolio of designs created throughout the course; along with tutor marked reports and research assignments. Please note, this course is accredited by NCFE and not the RHS.
The assessment criteria to achieve your qualification is;
• Use Materials, Tools and Equipment to Develop Design Techniques
• Investigate Creative Enterprise and Employment Opportunities
• Develop Design Ideas
• Create, Present and Evaluate Final Art and Design Item
(All units are mandatory)
Qualification received
Successful completion of the course and achievement of all assessments will mean that learners receive the NCFE Level 2 Creative Craft Certificate in Art and Design (Garden Design). Learners will also receive a Winterbourne Certificate in Garden design from Winterbourne House and Garden on
completion of the course.

This course will take place on Wednesdays from September 2024. Lessons take place from 10am – 3.15pm and include a 45 minute lunch break. Drawing week dates will be dotted throughout the
year and are yet to be confirmed.

Cost
The cost of this course is £1470 including assessment costs.
