Create a one-of-a-kind ceramic wind chime across two sessions with instructor Daria Claiborne!
In Part One, students will dive into the heart of the ceramic process. You will learn hand-building techniques to create clay tiles and sculptural attachments that will eventually become the chiming elements of the finished piece. This session is all about exploration and personal expression: you’ll experiment with a variety of texturing techniques to add visual depth and tactile interest to your clay pieces. You will then bring them to life with underglazes in colors and patterns inspire you. Whether you lean toward bold and graphic or soft and organic, this is your chance to make each piece distinctly your own.
Between sessions, your creations will be fired and readied for the next stage.
In Part Two, students will return to assemble everything into a complete, functional wind chime with guidance from Daria. You’ll learn how to arrange and string your pieces together to achieve both great sound and great style, and leave with a finished work of art ready to hang at home.
This two-part class is perfect for teens and adults of all experience levels — no prior ceramics knowledge required. Just bring your curiosity and creativity, and we’ll handle the rest!
