ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
In this unique workshop, participants have the opportunity to create two small (8"x8") nature nooks out of low fire red stoneware clay to hang on a wall. After creating a design on paper you will learn how to cut and connect pieces by slipping and scoring. The nooks will be left to dry and will be kiln fired by the teacher, with pick up available no later than 3 weeks after the event.
SUPPLIES:
No supplies are required for this workshop, just bring an idea of what you'd like to display on your little shelves. Nature Nooks can be used to hold found natural objects, or any of your favorite trinkets!
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Jenn Hartz has been a teacher of many subjects in various educational settings since 1991 and a teacher of ceramics since 2022. Jenn enjoys bird watching and being in nature so it was only a matter of time before she brought her art and treasures together to create unique displays.
This project is funded in part by Visit Gainesville, Alachua County, in part by the State of Florida through the Division of Arts and Culture and the National Endowment of the Arts and in part by a grant from the City of Gainesville, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department.
