This is a great introduction into slab pottery where we'll use custom templates for the wall build, texture rollers and sculpt details. We'll be spot painting with underglazes to enhance our design and applying a clear glaze will be applied for you later. Serena Chu is a visual artist specializing in contemporary ceramic tableware and life-size colouring murals for events. Originally from Toronto with a BFA in mural painting and installation sculpture from York University, she is often experimenting with new techniques exploring different surface design like carving for her Geometric Mountain series, air brushing, or silkscreening. Her studio and art shop Chu Chu Chinatown transforms from ceramic production work for sale to a classroom for students during any given week. A portion of the proceeds goes towards her free senior art programming. With her 20+ years of teaching experience from gymnastics, to cooking classes and art workshops, she has a panache for creating a fun learning experience for her students. She teaches pottery, fluid pour painting, resin jewelry, soy candles, knitting and much more. Her passion is to make an art space that is accessible to all walks of life and is known for having classrooms full of laughter.
