About Our Speakers

Rick Mitchell is the CEO of the Homeless ID Project (hidp.org), a 38-year old nonprofit working across Arizona to END homelessness. He is a Co-Founder of The National Conversation About IDs (nationalconversation.org), a 500-member, 50-State alliance working with social service agencies across the nation to end homelessness by removing barriers to individual success resulting from lack of identification documents.

Rick spent a career in the for-profit world before entering nonprofit work. In 2015 he joined the Homeless ID Project Board of Directors and moved into his current role in 2017.

As part of his work, Rick is involved in advocating for policy change, having presented eight bills to the Arizona State Legislature since 2018, resulting in two laws and a unique partnership with the Arizona Department of Transportation, Motor Vehicle Division. Through this partnership, individuals experiencing homelessness are able to get their State ID or renewal driver’s license in the Homeless ID Project office in downtown Phoenix or in a remote location through our Mobile MVD Kiosk.

Tucson Young Professionals (TYP) is dedicated to attracting, retaining, and promoting young professionals in the Greater Tucson area. Founded during the Great Recession, TYP provides a platform for young professionals to connect, develop leadership skills, and actively contribute to Tucson's economic and social progress. We emphasize collaboration, leadership, inclusivity, and progress, aiming to ensure that diverse voices lead Tucson's development.
