About this Event
CENTRAL Performance Festival - September, October, November 2024 - presented at Grace Exhibition Space, a space for creative experimentation that has been dedicated to performance for more than a decade. In this festival, attendees will be able to see twenty performances and works by artists who work from immateriality and the creation of ephemeral experiences from the body; exploring themes such as violence, migration, diaspora, the abuse of power, identity and other problems intrinsic to the human being.
BLANCA VAN HOORDE (PANAMÁ)
Blanca Van Hoorde's work is inspired by Freedom with research about the different concepts of Liberty.
EDUARDO VELÁZQUEZ (REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA)
Eduardo Shlomo Velázquez is a visual artist and filmmaker who works in video, painting, performance and multimedia installations. Social causes and activism are part of his life mission, as he works with different activist groups for immigrant rights, such as DACA, Sanctuary Campus, and LGBTQI+ rights.
PÁVEL AGUILAR (HONDURAS)
Pável Aguilar is a transdisciplinary artist and musician. His work explores fragility and memory, through the combination of image, music and sound. He lives and works in Zürich, Switzerland.
PAULINA VELÁZQUEZ SOLÍS (COSTA RICA)
Paulina is a multimedia artist with an interest in the oddities hidden within nature and the body. She works in diverse media, including installation, sculpture, drawing, animation, and multimedia performance.
ABOUT THE CURATOR: PANCHO LOPEZ (MEXICO)
Pancho López is a performance artist interested in our everyday lives and in our feelings of human nature, and how they connect through artistic expressions. He studied Communication, Political and Social Sciences at UNAM, Mexico. Sr. Loopez is the founder and current Director of the Extra! International Performance Art Festival. For 11 years he was head of the Department of Performance and Contemporary Art of the Museo Universitario del Chopo. He coordinated the International Meeting of Performagia Performance from 2003 to 2009, and published in coordination with UNAM 7 catalogs of the meeting in 2011.
Recently, he received grants from the Multimedia Center and the Jumex Foundation to investigate video performance in Latin-America.

GRACE EXHIBITION SPACE for INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART
Opened in 2006, Grace Exhibition Space is devoted exclusively to Performance Art, offering the opportunity to experience visceral and challenging works by the current generation of performance artists whether emerging, mid-career or established. The events are presented on the floor, not on a stage, dissolving the boundary between artist and viewer.
