About this Event
Join Central Chapter of INPS for a celebration of the Wake Up, Woods StoryWalk installation in the Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park at Newfields. Co-author of Wake Up, Woods and former State Botanist, Mike Homoya, will lead a tour and conduct a book signing in the Ruth Lilly Visitor Pavilion. Lisa Milton, Director of Natural Resources at Newfields, will be available to discuss the project’s implementation and answer any questions about the StoryWalk.
The StoryWalk is a series of signs placed along a trail in Fairbanks Park, which was implemented in partnership with the Indianapolis Public Library. During spring, each sign features one page of the book Wake Up, Woods. Thanks to a grant by the Indianapolis Garden Club and the power of a Spring Planting Party with Indiana Native Plant Society, the area around each sign has been planted with the species featured on each page of the book. This project is featured in Newfields’ Spring Blooms Programming.
Parking is available for free at The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park, located at 1850 W 38th Street. Access to the park can be found via westbound 38th Street by taking the exit for White River Parkway East Drive. The event location is around the Ruth Lilly Visitor Pavilion, located in the northeast corner of the park. Guests will walk approximately 0.5 miles. Please, dress accordingly and for the weather. Reasonable accommodations may be available upon prior request.
