Please join us for the following fathers talking sessions. There are 9 sessions all at JK movement from 5-7pm.
3/20- Historical Trauma; participants will engage in a discussion around fatherhood and historical traumas. An impactful discourse that will lead to intentional problem solving amongst fathers.
3/27- Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES); Fathers will explore the ACES training and breakdown the impacts of how childhood eperiences impact the identity we hold as men. Fathers will investigate the social and behavioral impacts.
4/3- Fatherhood; an exploration on maternal and paternal impacts in a relationship. Fathers will take a deeper dive on the impacts of meeting the needs of their children, partner and as well as themselves.
4/10- Manhood; A hot topic that has led to many interpretations amongst men. Manhood is often a heavily debated topic across many social groups. Learn from some of out communities most knowledgable men.
4/17-Grief and Loss; a conversation around grief and loss and howit impacts parents. The loss of a child or loved one is devastating and debilitating. Fathers will learn some coping strategies to start healing.
4/24-Respect; explore a multicultural and cultiracial view on ho wmen define respect. What you value could vary drastically from others. Lets talk about it.
5/1-Self Sufficiency; this talking session will be about self-starting, financial literacy and wealth building. A focus on how fathers can get resources to help build a financial future for the family.
5/8-Relationships; how do you define a relationship? Are you self-aware? Are you able to co-parent without being romantically involved? All these questions will be talked about in this session.
5/15-Child Support; Traditionally child support has meant financial support. We want to broach the topic and talk about resources. In addition, we also want to reimagine innovative ways to support the children in othe areas.
- The outcome of the 9 talking circles is to engage and listen intently to fathers who have come forward to share their experiences. This context provides opportunities to build collective understanding and amplify the voices of fathers in the community.
