As the day settles toward evening, Saint Dunstan’s invites you to a candlelit Celtic Evensong. This reflective service weaves together choral music, scripture, and prayer in a calm and welcoming setting. It is a chance to pause, listen, and experience beauty together whether church is already part of your life or simply something you are curious about. This year’s service features the Celtic Evening Canticles composed and arranged by longtime Saint Dunstan’s choirmaster and organist Eliot Glaser, who served this community faithfully until his passing in June 2020. Drawing on traditional Scottish melodies, this music reflects themes of hope, mercy, and God’s steady presence across generations.
We will begin with a prelude of traditional Celtic instrumental music offered by a small acoustic ensemble featuring violin, guitar, recorder, and mandolin. The Evensong service follows the historic choral evening prayer tradition of psalms, scripture readings, canticles, anthem, and prayers, all shaped primarily through music and candlelit reflection.
After the service, everyone is invited to stay for a relaxed reception and conversation. No expectations, just space to connect.
If you love sacred music, Celtic tradition, candlelit spaces, or simply a peaceful way to close the weekend, you are warmly welcome. Come as you are. You belong here.
