AmiciMusic is a chamber music organization based in Asheville and Baltimore dedicated to performing the highest quality chamber music in intimate venues and non-traditional spaces. This concert breaks down barriers between performers and audiences by setting up a more relaxed and informal atmosphere through informative talks about each composer’s life before each piece is played.
Concert-goers are invited to explore the Museum before the concert. Exhibitions halls will close at 6pm to allow time for seating and refreshments at the Perspective Café Pop-Up Bar in the Windgate Foundation Atrium.
About the Musicians:
Jacques-Pierre Malan, cellist, currently based in Baltimore and Philadelphia, has performed on stages across the world from Africa to Europe to the USA. After completing his Master’s degree at Peabody Conservatory, he founded the Baltimore String Quartets and Trios, a business that pairs upscale event planners with elite musicians, and Creative Concert Group, which produces visionary concert programs. Mr. Malan’s work performing at the South African Embassy also led him to becoming the Artistic Program Coordinator for the Embassy Series, which aims to unite people through musical diplomacy in performances at various D.C. Embassies.
Daniel Weiser, pianist, has a Doctorate in Piano/Chamber Music from the Peabody Conservatory, where he studied with Samuel Sanders and Robert MacDonald and won the Richard Franko Goldman prize for outstanding contribution to musical and educational life. He has performed on many great stages, including the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and on the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago. He has also concertized around the world, including Israel, Thailand, Holland, and France and was the 1996 United States Artistic Ambassador Abroad, for which he performed on an eleven-country tour of the Middle East and Asia. He has been on the music faculty of Dartmouth College and the prestigious St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire.
