Critically acclaimed by virtually every major outlet covering classical music, American mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton is increasingly recognized for how she uses her powerful instrument offstage to lift up marginalized communities. In recognition of her iconic performance at Last Night of the Proms, Ms. Barton was named 2020 Personality of the Year at the BBC Music Magazine Awards. She is also the winner of the Beverly Sills Artist Award, Richard Tucker Award, and BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. Her 2007 win at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions launched a major international career that includes leading roles at the world’s most-loved opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Teatro Real, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Unexpected Shadows, her critically acclaimed album with composer and pianist Jake Heggie, earned a 2022 GRAMMY® nomination for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album.
AMERICAN SOPRANO INDRA THOMAS
Known for her lush and warm voice, Indra Thomas has established herself as an artist of incredible sensitivity, poise, and virtuosity. Currently teaching as Artist in Residency at Berry College in Rome Georgia, she is a graduate of Shorter College with Bachelor of Music in Performance and received an Artistic Diploma from the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. With a prolific career in opera and stage, she has been featured in lead operatic roles and as a soloist and recitalist nationally and internationally. She can also be seen in the Academy Award-winning movie Driving Ms. Daisy, as the featured soloist in the funeral scene, and in the movie The Upside, playing the “Queen of the Night” in the opera scene. Along with stage and screen, Ms. Thomas is a recording artist with a solo album entitled Great Day! Indra Thomas Sings Spirituals, found on all streaming platforms, and on a Grammy nominated recording of Micheal Tippett’s A Child of Our Time with the London Symphony Orchestra. In 2003, Ms. Thomas was nominated for an Emmy for the nationally televised Live from Lincoln Center’s production of Porgy and Bess Suite conducted by Lorin Maazel and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. She was awarded the Joseph R. Biden President’s Volunteer Service and Lifetime Achievement Award along with a Signature Award from the Metropolitan Atlanta Musicians Association.
AMERICAN SOPRANO TALISE TREVIGNE
Career highlights for American soprano Talise Trevigne include her celebrated portrayal in the title role Porgy and Bess at The Atlanta Opera; she returned as a TAO Company Principal Artist in Season 2020/21 as Nedda I Pagliacci. She joined Cincinnati Symphony for her concert debut with Louis Langree and appeared at Cincinnati Opera in their Gala season opening presenting material from their upcoming production of Castor and Patience in which she soon sings the title role. Trevigne played the role of Sunny desert in for Boston Lyric Opera in their exciting new episodic opera series devised for the small screen, curated and directed by James Darrah. Previous highlights include her return appearance with CBSO for Tippett’s A Child of our Time in performances in the UK and Germany conducted by Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla.
In concert, the artist’s appearances include Cantaloube's Chants D'Auvergne, Satie's Socrate, Mahler's Second Symphony and Fourth Symphony, Barber's Prayers of Kierkegaar, Strauss' Vier letzte Liederand Four Last Songs and Carmina Burana. Talise Trevigne studied at the Manhattan School of Music and graduated with her Master’s in Music. While still a student, she made her operatic debut under the direction of Julius Rudel as Violetta La Traviata and Zerlina Don Giovanni at the Aspen Music Festival. Ms. Trevigne teaches vocal studies at The Georgia State University School of Music in Atlanta.
AMERICAN TENOR RICHARD CLEMENT
GRAMMY® Award-winning American tenor Richard Clement has performed with most of America’s major orchestras and music directors, bringing tonal beauty and superb musicality to repertoire from the baroque to the contemporary. He recently earned particular acclaim for the title role of Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius with the North Carolina Symphony and Sacramento Choral Arts Society and Orchestra. In addition he premiered and recorded the GRAMMY-nominated The Here and Now by Christoper Theofanides' with Robert Spano and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, including performances in Atlanta and at New York’s Carnegie Hall. (He has also sung Messiah and concert performances of John Adams’ Doctor Atomic with them.) Among the most in-demand tenors for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, invitations include the Brooklyn Philharmonic, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra; New Jersey, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Oregon, Memphis, San Diego, Baltimore, Nashville, Phoenix, Colorado, Grand Junction, and Toledo Symphonies.
Mr. Clement studied voice at Georgia State University and the Cincinnati Conservatory, where he received his Master of Music degree. He was a Tanglewood Music Festival Fellow, has been a member of the Houston Grand Opera Studio and was a recipient of the Richard Tucker Music Foundation Jacobson Study Grant. Recordings include Britten’s War Requiem with the Washington Choral Society, Bartók’s Cantata Profana with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (both GRAMMY winners), and Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame. Mr. Clement is currently an Associate Professor at Georgia State University's School of Music.
