World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated annually on June 5th to raise global awareness of environmental issues and encourage action for the protection of our planet. As per tradition, WED has a theme for this year - solutions to plastic pollution #BeatPlasticPollution. In light of this, Notre Dame Nature Study Club is celebrating World Environment Day 2023 accommodating diverse student-focused competitions! Time to rejuvenate and surpass the impact we made during the Bangladesh Earth Summit back in '21, the very first ever in the history of our country.

•Junior [B] (Grades 6 to 8): Green Bee, Essay Writing, Photography, Poster Competition (Handmade)

?Video Promo Contest (C, D): Beating plastic is merely a part of ensuring sustainability but requires united actions nonetheless. Do you think you have what it takes to bring forth this unity? Then this event's for you!
?Photography (B, C, D): Capture the serenity of our nature alongside highlighting the need for its protection and preservation from the dangers of plastic pollution.
?Idea Presentation (C, D): Inspire change! Get a chance to share your innovative ideas on mitigating & preventing environmental challenges created due to plastic pollution.
?Poster Competition (A, B): Put your creative skills to the test and showcase your innovation and passion for our environment through captivating posters!
?Descriptions:

?Green Bee: Be part of a challenging and competitive environmental quiz event designed to test participants' knowledge on a range of sustainability-related topics. With an emphasis on engaging and educating participants, this event provides an opportunity to learn and cultivate ideas on critical environmental issues while promoting awareness and encouraging collective action through spreading reliable & actionable knowledge.
In this 30-minute segment, four comprehension passages will be given from which there will be 25 MCQ questions.
?Idea Presentation: A wonderful scope for participants to showcase their innovative solutions towards mitigating and preventing environmental challenges caused by plastic pollution. Participants will have the opportunity to share their ideas in a clear, concise and engaging manner, with the aim of inspiring change and promoting sustainable environmental practices. The event provides a forum for creative problem-solving and offers a chance for participants to make a positive impact on their communities, and in the long run, our country.
Participants have to submit a 3-minute (max) presentation on the following topics -
Plastic Free Campus or Beat Plastic at Educational Institutions.

?Turn the Coat: A unique event where participants will present arguments for and against environmental issues related to this year's World Environment Day theme, centered around solutions to plastic pollution. Participants can also create their own dilemmas about the given topic and present their arguments, making it an opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussions and explore new perspectives - opening a window of understanding into the world of loopholes in policymaking when it comes to ensuring sustainability.
The topics will follow WED's theme and will be provided 20 minutes before the event.
Participants will have 4 minutes to complete this segment. Speaking 2 minutes for and 2 minutes against.
?Poster Competition: Create a visually striking poster that showcases your passion and innovative ideas for protecting the environment from the harmful effects of plastic pollution Or showcase the disastrous consequences of it, and inspire others to take action towards a sustainable future. All the submitted posters will be displayed at our World Environment Day event, providing a platform to share your message and ideas with a wider audience.
The theme of the poster is Beat Plastic.
The poster must be handmade.

?Essay Writing: A chance to express your creativity and ingenuity in tackling the complexities of environmental issues stemming from plastic pollution. Delve into the intricacies and interconnectedness of these problems and present your novel ideas and solutions that challenge the conventional notions of environmental conservation. This event offers a unique opportunity to showcase your passion for the environment and articulate your thoughts with sophistication and eloquence. The topics are -
Category D: Beat Plastic Pollution.
Category C: Solutions to Plastic Pollution.
Category B: Alternative of Plastic for a Better Tomorrow.
