Celebration of Idler’s Rest Nature Preserve- Latah County, ID
About this Event
Join us as we celebrate Idaho’s 1st Community Forest at the Idler’s Rest Nature Preserve with Palouse Land Trust! OGFN is the only national network in the U.S. of protected, old-growth, native forests.
Idler's Rest Nature Preserve, a 35-acre forest north of Moscow cared for by the Palouse Land Trust (PLT) since 2000, is home to a remarkable grove of old-growth western redcedar and Douglas-fir. In recognition of this unique natural area and its importance to the local community, the Old-Growth Forest Network (OGFN) has designated Idler's Rest as one of its Community Forests. This gathering celebrates that recognition and highlights how Idler's Rest is managed with old-growth forest characteristics in mind. With more than a century of history as a gathering place for the Nez Perce, homesteaders, scout troops, students, and neighbors, Idler's Rest continues to serve as both a community space and an example of thoughtful forest stewardship.
