You are warmly invited to a special liturgy celebrating the blessings of inclusivity and diversity, and honoring the life and legacy of The Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray, the first Black woman ordained to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church.
A poet, priest, and pioneer, Pauli Murray devoted her life to faith, learning, and the hope of a more loving world. Her words and witness continue to inspire all who seek to walk in courage, compassion, and truth.
“Hope is a song in a weary throat.
Give me a song of hope and a world where I can sing it…”
—from her poem “Dark Testament”
Cindy Watson, Founder and former CEO of JASMYN, will be our guest preacher. Under her leadership, JASMYN became a nationally recognized model for youth centers serving LGBTQIA+ young people.
Presiding at the altar will be The Rt. Rev. William H. Stokes, 12th Bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey.
All offerings collected during the service will benefit the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice.
Come rejoice in the enduring promise of God’s grace—and the strength we find in a community that welcomes all of God’s children. A reception will follow the service in Taliaferro Hall.
FREE and OPEN TO ALL.
