About this Event

The world needs more music, and the world of music needs more women! In this concert, we feature a sampling of the vast array of brilliant female composers who have made their mark on the classical music scene over the past two centuries, from early-Romantic German composer and pianist Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel; to French composer, conductor, and teacher Nadia Boulanger and American composer and pianist Amy Beach, both very active at the turn of the century; to modern day Canadian luminary composers Alexina Louie and Cecilia Livingston.

The program will include performances on a variety of instruments by some of our rising star students and scholarship winners. We will also celebrate the extraordinary women on our list of scholarship donors who represent all walks of life but share at least one thing in common – their dedication to supporting music and the arts.

Join us and our host Professor Julie Pedneault-Deslauriers, who will introduce the works and share some insights into the fascinating women who created them.
