The Ukrainian Society of Michigan is excited to present a special performance celebrating Ukrainian Christmas traditions, featuring a Vertep, a theatrical Christmas tradition. This captivating performance will bring to life the rich cultural heritage of Ukraine through vibrant costumes, singing, and storytelling. Alongside this vibrant reenactment of Ukrainian culture, we will also share a selection of classic American Christmas songs, including the iconic Carol of the Bells, originally the Ukrainian folk song Shchedryk. This will be a joyous celebration blending Ukrainian and American holiday traditions through music, theater, and community spirit. Then, the Ukrainian American Archives & Museum, located in the Detroit area, will join local Ukrainians in Grand Rapids to share the culture of Ukraine. Come learn a traditional Ukrainian children’s Christmas carol, explore Ukrainian musical traditions and have fun making a Christmas spider to take home.
Community Partner: Ukrainian American Archives & Museum | Ukrainian Society of Michigan
