Official Obituary: Troy Joseph Franklin Curtis, 45, of Mansfield Center, passed away peacefully on Monday November 18, 2024. He was the son of the late Joseph Franklin Curtis and the late Loretta Fay (Moquin) Curtis. Troy was born on January 28, 1979 in Hartford, CT. He grew up in Rockville, CT, graduating from Rockville High School. Troy was a singer/song writer, artist, actor, and educator. He was passionate about his music and working with children with special needs especially those with autism.
He traveled across the United States settling in San Jose, CA., where he met the love of his life, Ms. Vanessa. Together they started the Thrift Mission which helped support the community. Troy and Vanessa were married in 2016, in Felton, CA before moving to Austin, TX in 2017. While living in Austin he worked as a musician and production artist, producing under his studio, Nu Routes Productions. He lived in Austin, TX until 2023, when in light of his brain cancer diagnosis he moved back to Connecticut to live with his sister, Rachael and brother-in-law, Rick.
While living in Connecticut he joined the Storrs Congragetional Church made many new friends.He is survived by his love, Vanessa Atienza Curtis, sisters, Pascha Lemnah, Linda Henderson, Diane Pettigrew and husband Kirk, Patricia Forbes, Rachael C. Rivers Bogert and husband, Rick, and his brother Donald Rivers and wife Linda. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, along with a multitude of cousins.
He also leaves behind his legacy of music, which meant the most to him.
