Excited for those hints of fall weather, that slight crispness in the air? Or just glad there’s less humidity and hurricane season is winding down? Then come celebrate the Autumnal Equinox – the pagan harvest feast, Mabon – with The Torch.
There will be a ritual, guided meditation, and a community feast. This time of equal light and dark is perfect for reflection and thanksgiving as we prepare for the dark half of the year.
If you are able, please bring something tasty, especially locally seasonal food. Here are just a few examples of these: Basil, greens, peppers, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, winter squash (acorn, butternut, Hubbard), corn, peas, cucumbers, eggplant, mirliton, okra, cucuzza (a squash), zucchini, yellow squash, apples, Asian pears, cantaloupe, figs, grapes, muscadines, pecans, persimmons, pomegranates, satsumas, watermelons.
Since we’ll be outside in City Park, think easy-to-serve picnic style. Finger foods are great. Also bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
We will meet in the grove of trees behind the "City Park" topiary (at City Park Ave and Solomon Place)
