Join us for the Katikati Matariki Dawn Service - With the Mihi starting at 5:00am.Those who attend the celebration, will be treated to commentary on how to view and identify the Matariki cluster, what these stars mean individually, culturally and how their values can be embodied, practiced and celebrated by the diverse community.
Attendees will be treated to kapa haka, intentional goal settings for the year ahead as well as warm beverages and refreshments to celebrate new beginnings for the Māori New Year.
Brought to you by Te Rūnanga o Ngai Tamawhariua, Katch Katikati, Katikati Community Centre, Project Parore, and Western Bay Museum and Te Rereatukahia Marae, Katikati Red Cross and Katikati Rotary Group with support from the Tauranga Western Bay Community Event Fund.
Free to attend.
We will be running a free shuttle vans too and from the Katikati Primary school area from 4:30am, as the carparks at the end of Park Road will already be filled!
