Flax was grown, spun, and woven in local homes, and later our mills became famous for producing sailcloth used on English ships across the world.Join us for an afternoon of hands-on history as we bring Kirkhamโs textile story to life:
๐ธ Displays of old photographs, artefacts, and a timeline of the mills
๐ Historic clogs and other items linked to the local textile trade
๐งต Hands-on spinning and weaving activities (have a go yourself!)
๐จ Creative crafts for children and adults (drop spindles, weaving, colouring)
๐ Dressing-up corner for kids to experience life as a mill worker
