Sofar Philly Juneteenth Celebration — Freedom. Heritage. Voice.
We're turning Sweet Baked Couture into a living room for the culture on Thursday, June 19. Sofar's Juneteenth shows are built around the same values you see across the city this month — freedom, heritage, and neighborhood connection — but this one is Philly-specific: spoken word first, then live boombap soul.
The lineup
Spoken Word: Secret Scribez [@sacred_scribez215] and Lady Sarkazym [@lady_sarkazym] — two Philly poets bringing lyricism for the soul, liberation narratives, and call-and-response energy
Music: J. Wilson [@boombapandbae] — boom-bap rooted R&B, live vocals over warm keys, the kind of set that feels like a front-porch cipher
Hosted by Sofar Sounds Philadelphia.
Intimate room, no raised stage, audience on cushions — the format Sofar has used all June to spotlight hidden talent in neighborhood spaces.
