Celebrating Cultural Diversity through Film: The Farewell

Join us for the second installment of the EDI Council’s Film Screening Series, celebrating cultural diversity through cinema. In honour of Lunar New Year, we will be screening The Farewell—a heartfelt and beautifully-told film that explores family, identity, love, and cultural tradition across generations.

The Farewell follows a Chinese-American family who return to China under the guise of a wedding to say goodbye to their beloved grandmother. Through humour and tenderness, the film reflects on diaspora, belonging, and the different ways cultures understand love, truth, and protection.

Whether you’re celebrating Lunar New Year or simply love meaningful storytelling, this screening offers a warm and reflective space to engage with themes of culture, family, and connection.
