About this Event
Join us on 10 February for a unique celebration with Irish artists, who’ll perform their own traditional Irish music and dance compositions on the life and lore of St. Brigid in Dr. Hoch’s Conservatory Frankfurt.
They will perform material they originally composed for a collaboration between the Irish Traditional Music Archive and the Department of Foreign Affairs in 2022.
About the artists:
- Edwina Guckian is a dancer, choreographer, film maker and cultural producer hailing from Co. Leitrim. Previously winner of the Leitrim County Council Arts Person of the Year, the Arts Councils Next Generation Award and Connacht Business Person of the Year by the Irish Enterprise Board, she has hosted the Leitrim Dance Festival since 2016 as its artistic director.
- Louise Mulcahy is a tin whistle, flute, and uilleann piper based in Co. Meath, where she works as a primary school teacher. She is a record-maker, being the only person in history to have won four senior All-Ireland titles in the same day at the Fleadh Ceol na hEireann.
- Caitlín Nic Gabhann is a 3 time All-Ireland concertina champion, performer, teacher, composer and percussive dancer from Co Meath. Having toured for years as a dancer with Riverdance, Caitlín’s life’s work to date has been recognised with her being chosen as UCC's Traditional Artist in Residence for 2022.
We will also welcome Librarian, Roisín Conlan from the Irish Traditional Music Archive, who will present archival material related to this collaboration to Management Board Member of the Archiv Frau and Musik, Andrea Hartenfeller.
The event will conclude with a networking reception.
