About this Event
Closing out the first week of EDIDA Awareness Month is a celebration of Black Joy! You will hear the African American-inspired melodies and harmonies with the London Kids Community Gospel Choir! Music will include contemporary and traditional gospel music and songs.
Saidat is the first black Canadian female children's entertainer, speaker, community leader and artistic director. To this day, Saidat has impacted over 700,000 children and youth across Canada. From a desire to make people smile and a wish to build confidence in the younger generation, Saidat's message of encouragement, self-worth, and community-mindedness is also a motivation for a global audience. The London Kids Community Gospel Choir (LKCGC) is the first-ever gospel choir of its kind specifically for children in London, Ontario. The vision of the London Kids Community Gospel Choir is to be a city-wide choir where diverse children from ages 7 -17 can learn and experience the power of Gospel music. They purpose to share their incredible talent and passion for spreading the message of courage, love, and faith with hands raised, clapping, and joyous movement. Through positive care and discipline, learning techniques of vocal excellence, singing in melodies and harmonies as well as performing together, choir members experience joy, positive mental health, and beautiful friendships. The LKCGC holds weekly rehearsals and performs throughout the city spreading inspiration and hope to all who get to encounter them. From 7 singers to 20 + voices, since Fall 2022, the LKCGC was founded and directed by Montreal-native, Mrs. Achlaï Ernest Wallace, who recently relocated to London, ON in 2021, with her husband Kenny and 9-year-old daughter Haddie who also sings in the choir.
The LKCGC is both a nominee of the Essence and Cultural Awards and Forest City Music Awards-nominated in 2024.
The LKCGC is currently open to new members! Please contact LKCGC at [email protected] and come experience the joy!
