Celebrating 20 years of personal outcomes, sharing impact and learning to shape what comes next.
About this Event

In 2006, the Joint Improvement Team – a collaboration between the Scottish Government, COSLA and Healthcare Improvement Scotland – began work with diverse partners across Scotland to develop the Talking Points Personal Outcomes Approach. Talking Points set out how health and care organisations could reorientate practice, culture and systems around the outcomes that matter to people, through good conversations, meaningful recording and effective use of information. This work built on earlier evidence from the Universities of York and Glasgow and, more recently, the University of Strathclyde, led by Professor Margaret Whoriskey with academic co-leads Dr Emma Miller and Dr Ailsa Cook.

This work depends on sustained relationships and coordination. For over a decade, a diverse community of practice – the Personal Outcomes Network (PON) – has supported this way of working, influencing policy and practice to be more relational, asset-based and outcomes-focused, with sustained collaboration with colleagues in Wales.

Funded by the University of Strathclyde, this event celebrates 20 years of collaborative work to embed personal outcomes in Scotland and connected developments in Wales. It brings together people who have contributed to, used, challenged and sustained outcomes-focused approaches across research, policy and practice.

The event will: gather and connect stories of impact; create space to reflect on change, continuity and challenge; learn from organisations addressing barriers to outcomes-focused practice; and link this learning to key policy and practice developments.

The organising team warmly invite you to join us.
