May Gibbs was Australia’s first female cartoonist, and her gumnut baby strip Bib and Bub first appeared in colour in the Sunday News on 3 August 1924. Bib and Bub was published until 1967 – when its creator was 90 years old – making it one of the nation’s longest running cartoon strips.
This informative talk is held to celebrate the centenary of May Gibbs' enduring legacy.

About the presenters
Dr Ian Hoskins is North Sydney Council's Historian and an award-winning author. He has worked as an academic, professional historian and curator for over 30 years. His acclaimed books are recognised nationally for their chronicling of Australian history.
Sarah Morley is a curator at the State Library of NSW. She has worked extensively with the Library's archival and printed collections. Focussing on manuscripts, rare books and children's literature, Sarah's work encompasses collection acquisition, access, promotion and interpretation. She has curated numerous exhibitions and displays for the State Library.
