We'll celebrate the declaration of Texas' Independence from Mexico on Sunday, March 2, 2025 with a few lively toasts at the Menger Bar downtown (where Teddy Roosevelt commissioned the Rough Riders.) The crowd usually starts showing up between 5:30pm and 6pm. After we drink all the Lone Star Beer in the house, we'll head across the street to the Alamo about 7:00pm (or so) for our annual group photo. Byron Buzzini and/or John Small will then read a brief history of the Siege of the Alamo. This is a long-standing annual event for members of the San Antonio A&M Club and SA Rodeo Volunteers (in addition to other fellow Texans) that started 20+ years ago. Do your best to be there and celebrate Texas!

“For all its enormous range of space, climate, and physical appearance, and for all the internal squabbles, contentions, and strivings, Texas has a tight cohesiveness perhaps stronger than any other section of America. Rich, poor, Panhandle, Gulf, city, country, Texas is the obsession, the proper study, and the passionate possession of all Texans.” – John Steinbeck
