Celebrate Summer Solstice with Sunprints

Celebrate the longest day of the year by creating photographs in collaboration with sunlight!
Sunprints, also known as cyanotypes, are one of the earliest forms of photography. A simple combination of light, water, and salt produces rich blue images. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to mix your own light-sensitive solution and create prints using found objects, plants, and natural textures. This experimental, sustainable process invites you to slow down and create one-of-a-kind images. You’ll also learn how to continue the process at home – no darkroom needed.

What You’ll Learn:

• The history and fundamentals of cyanotype (sunprint) photography
• How to safely mix and apply cyanotype chemistry
• Techniques for coating your own paper and materials
• How to compose images using natural elements and found objects
• Exposure and development using sunlight
• How small variations in materials and process affect your final image

Hands-On Experience:
This is a fully interactive workshop where you’ll create your own sunprints during the session. You’ll experiment with:

• Organic materials like leaves, flowers, and textures
• Layering and composition techniques
• Different exposure times and lighting conditions

Each participant will leave with at least one unique print.

Her work is nourished by her role as an educator, where she mentors students to embrace process over product and cultivate creative resilience. She has been invited to manage four public darkrooms and leads workshops for artists aged 7-70.
