WESTFIELD, NJ — The Union County Torah Center - Chabad warmly invites the community to a meaningful and joyous celebration of Shavuot, the holiday commemorating the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai.
Join us for our Annual Late Night Torah Study on Sunday night, June 1 at 11:00 PM, featuring the fascinating topic:
“Souls, Angels, Demons & Dybbuks.”
This special class is part of the long-standing Jewish tradition to stay awake and study Torah throughout the night of Shavuot. According to tradition, when God was ready to give the Torah to the Israelites, they overslept, and Moses had to awaken them. To rectify this, we stay up all night studying Torah on Shavuot eve, demonstrating our eagerness and readiness to receive the Torah anew each year.
On Monday, June 2, at 6:00 PM, come hear the Reading of the Ten Commandments from a Torah scroll — a powerful reenactment of the Sinai experience — followed by a festive Ice Cream and Cheesecake Party for all ages.
Morning services will be held on both days of Shavuot:
Monday, June 2 at 10:00 AM, with the Reading of the Ten Commandments at 11:00 AM followed by a dairy Kiddush.
Tuesday, June 3 at 10:00 AM, with the Yizkor memorial service at 11:45 AM.
Come celebrate the giving of the Torah with community, inspiration, and delicious dairy treats!
