Celebrate Hatch Chile Season at Food City's Flavor Fest | Saturday, Aug. 15
Hatch Chile season has officially arrived at Food City, bringing back the bold Southwestern flavors that Arizona shoppers wait for all year. The limited-time Hatch Chile season runs through early September, making now the perfect time to stock up on fresh and roasted Hatch Green Chiles, while supplies last.
From fresh Hatch Green Chiles and free on-site roasting (at participating store locations) to made-from-scratch bakery and deli favorites, Food City stores across the Valley are once again transforming into Hatch Chile destinations with dozens of seasonal offerings – including four new Hatch-inspired products debuting this year.
To celebrate the season, Food City is hosting a Hatch Chile Flavor Fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Food City store at 91st Ave. and Thomas Rd. (9020 W. Thomas Rd.) in Phoenix, where customers can sample Hatch Chile creations from throughout the store, meet vendor partners, and experience the flavors that make the annual Hatch Chile harvest one of the Southwest's most anticipated culinary traditions.
"Whether customers are picking up fresh roasted Hatch Green Chiles for family recipes or discovering one of our new Hatch-inspired foods, Food City is proud to offer one of Arizona's most extensive selections of Hatch Chile products," said Food City Brand Manager Carrie Strait.
This year's expanded lineup features new items including:
- Hatch Green Chile Butter
- Hatch Green Chile Butter Garlic Bread
- Hatch Green Chile Macaroni and Cheese
- Hatch Green Chile Ground Beef Patties
Returning customer favorites include:
- Hatch Green Chile Cornbread Muffins
- Hatch Green Chile and Cream Cheese Stuffed Bolillos
- Made-to-order Hatch Green Chile Breakfast Burritos
- Hatch Green Chile Guacamole
- Hatch Green Chile Molcajete Salsa
- Hatch Green Chile Pico de Gallo
- Hatch Green Chile Beef
- Villa Roma Hatch Green Chile Sausage
Food City's produce departments also offer fresh Hatch Green Chiles by the pound or in 28-pound burlap bags, along with fire-roasted Hatch Green Chiles, Young Guns Hatch Valley salsa products and diced Hatch Green Chiles in heat levels ranging from mild to extra hot.
One of the season's most popular traditions returns as well: free Hatch Green Chile roasting at select Food City locations. Customers can purchase fresh Hatch Chiles and have them roasted on-site, making it easy to enjoy their distinctive smoky flavor or freeze them for recipes throughout the year. Participating Hatch Chile roasting locations and hours can be found by scanning a QR code or by visiting MiFoodCity.com/Stores and selecting "Chile Roasting" under Services.
The annual Hatch Green Chile harvest has become a celebrated Southwestern tradition. Because the harvest lasts only a few weeks each year, many home cooks stock up while supplies last to enjoy the unique flavor year-round.
