BIO
Apoorva Krishna is an award-winning Carnatic violinist, composer, and innovator whose music dissolves borders. Trained for over 15 years under legends Lalgudi Srimathi and Anuradha Sridhar, she weaves the intricacies of South Indian classical music into a vibrant tapestry of global sounds.
Apoova’s artistry has taken her from the Madras Music Academy to the Berlin Tagore Centre, from Bogotá’s Jazz al Parque Festival to London’s Darbar Festival—sharing the stage with icons like John McLaughlin, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, and Bombay Jayashri. Her compositions have earned accolades including an Honorable Mention at the BMI Student Composer Awards, and her work features on the Grammy-nominated album Shuruaat by the Berklee Indian Ensemble.
The first Indian recipient of the London Tarisio Trust’s Young Artist Grant, Apoorva holds a Master’s in Contemporary Performance and a Post-Master’s Fellowship from Berklee College of Music, where her vision to merge Carnatic traditions with jazz, Western harmonies, and world music deepened. Her debut album Intuition featured Shankar Mahadevan, while her upcoming project Only Love is Real brings together a remarkable roster of artists including Vijay Prakash, Michael League, and Varijashree Venugopal, exploring themes of surrender, acceptance, and the quiet truths of the heart.
Celebrated in Rolling Stone India, The Strad, The Hindu, and The Times of India, Apoorva Krishna continues to push the boundaries of tradition, creating a musical space where Indian classical depth meets the limitless language of the world.
