Celebrate Channing's 20 Years of Dedication to the Strategy and Soul Center
About this Event
We are thrilled to share that Channing, co-director of the Strategy and Soul Movement Center, has been awarded a prestigious scholarship to attend CalArts, where he will pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Photography.
This achievement is the latest milestone in more than two decades of transformative leadership, creativity, and community organizing. Channing's work has touched countless lives through initiatives including the Strategy and Soul Movement Center, Strategy and Soul Books, Strategy and Soul BlackLight Film Theater, the Augustus Hawkins Social Justice Club, Police Free LAUSD, the Black Student Achievement Plan, Black Folks on Bikes, and his ongoing work with the Garifuna community.
The celebration will feature catering by Earle's on Crenshaw, music by Torre Brannon Reese, a soul sing-along featuring the music of Jerry Butler, Jimmy Ruffin, and Ben E. King, heartfelt testimonials, and dancing with Clinton Cameron (DJ Chico the Vinyl).
